What is Neighborhood Policing?

•Neighborhood policing is about local policing; police, partners and the community working together, to identify and tackle issues of concern in the community.
 

•Neighborhood policing is also about creating a teams dedicated to working together to create a safer community.
 

 

             Neighborhood Policing Objectives           

Ø Educate the community through community crime watch meetings on becoming more aware of their surroundings and to apply precautionary measures for their safety.

 Ø     Continue to identify crime trends and hot zones, highlighting the location and time of crime to effectively assigned police units.

 Ø     Map out suitable potential crime areas to prioritize mobile units as deemed necessary

 Ø     Address the community concern that arises during Community Crime Watch Meetings.

 

                                Our Mission

We Aim to:

  • Deal with policing issues in your area that matters most to you.

  • Involve you in identifying priorities in your area

  • have officers that you know and recognize and provide you with a direct number for you to contact them.

  • Reduce crime, nuisance and disorder
     

  • Reduce the fear of crime and increase the levels of safety in the communities.
     

  • Increase public satisfaction and confidence in the police.
     

  • Increase the Detection rate  of crime.

Neighborhood Policing News


School Visits

 

There is one (1) government school - Thelma Gibson Primary on Commonwealth Boulevard and four (4) private schools: St. Andrews, located Yamacraw Hill Road; Faith Temple located on Prince Charles Drive; Galilee and Church of God Academy, both located Joe Farrington Road.

 Thelma Gibson Primary School was visited by the neighborhood team which had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with the students.

 The neighborhood patrol also monitors activities and patrol the area of Doris Johnson Secondary School on Prince Charles Drive.

 The neighborhood team was also invited to speak at the P.T.A meeting at Doris Johnson Secondary School, where the parents were given first hand information on the problem their children face
