The National Drug Council was appointed by
the Cabinet during February 1985 to:
1. Determine
and monitor the prevalence of drug abuse.
2. Educate,
particularly the adolescent public, on the hazards of drug abuse.
3. Reduce/eliminate
drug abuse via a cooperate effort between Government and voluntary
agencies.
4. Provide counselling and
after-care services for the recovering addict.
5. Initiate forums for the
dissemination of information and opinions on the dangers of
drug dependence and drug abuse.
6. Acquire financial
assistance to implement the above programs and properties to further
the aims of the Council.
