The Bahamas National Drug Council’s Bahamas National
Drug Council (BNDC) ‘SAINO’ Anti-Drug Campaign was conceived,
promoted and executed under the leadership of the Community Outreach
Programme of the Council and the Drug Enforcement Administration,
United States Embassy (Bahamas). The Campaign’s objective is to
educate our youth about drug use and abuse, its cause and effects
and to arm them with strategies for living drug-free lives.
Prevention/Education Presentations for educating students about the
dangers of drug use/abuse and drug trafficking makes an indelible
impact. Therefore the Council, in conjunction with the Ministry of
Education, Youth & Sports and the United States Embassy (Bahamas),
has officially launched a comprehensive Demand Reduction Anti-Drug
Awareness SAINO Campaign. The Campaign is designed to educate our
youth about drugs use and abuse, its cause and effects and to arm
them with strategies for living drug-free lives.

The Bahamas National Drug Council ‘SAINO’ Campaign includes:
An Assembly Rally delivering a Drug Free Message, “SAY YES TO LIFE
…. NO TO DRUGS.”
A Drug Prevention Presentation – by an expert
(Anti-Drug Videos and group presentation for selective grades)

drugs and their effects.
Distribution of Anti-Drug promotional items by the Council official
Mascot ‘SAINO.’
The name ‘SAINO’, The Bahamas National Drug Council’s Mascot was
chosen during a competition sponsored by The Bahamas National Drug
Council in 1999, among Bahamian students. ‘SAINO’ was selected as
